“A world without water inequality is one where every community has reliable access to clean and sustainable water resources, regardless of economic or social standing. Collaborative, locally-driven solutions are the norm, blending traditional knowledge with innovative practices to safeguard water for future generations.”
Fainta Negoro is the founder of Jaga Semesta, a movement dedicated to solving water challenges and addressing systemic water challenges in underserved communities across Indonesia. She works closely with rural and Indigenous communities, drawing on local wisdom and engaging both elders and youth to create practical, nature-based solutions that respect cultural traditions. She is also the chief of impact and sustainability officer at Jejakin.com, a climate tech company that leverages AI-powered platforms and Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to detect changes in an environment and collect data to drive meaningful progress towards climate justice. In this role, Fainta leads the organization’s impact strategy, ensuring its work drives lasting social and environmental change.
Fainta’s mission is to reduce the unequal impact of water crises on historically excluded communities by improving access to water and strengthening local resilience. She leads multidisciplinary teams to develop scalable, real-world solutions for water resource management, addressing immediate needs while empowering communities to prepare for future challenges.
Fainta believes that communities have both the right and the ability to manage natural resources, and that empowering them is essential to reducing the harm caused by extractive industries. By connecting people, ideas, and resources and asking the tough questions, we can all play a role in sparking change and challenging the status quo.
