Perel
Performance Artist, Dancer, Choreographer, & Writer
they, them, theirs
Perel is an interdisciplinary artist whose work is centered on disability and queerness as they relate to care, consent, sexuality, and personal and historic trauma. They often use collaboration as a platform for the exchange of disciplines, working methods and discourses with other choreographers, composers and visual artists, while utilizing choreography to examine power exchange between the artist and audience. Perel was an Artist in Residence for AXIS Dance, Gibney Dance, and Movement Research, NYC. Their work has been shown at numerous galleries, theaters and festivals in the U.S. and abroad, including the Abrons Art Center, Gibney Dance Center, The Chocolate Factory, American Realness, Tanztage, NO LIMITS (Berlin, Germany), and Impulstanz (Vienna, Austria). Perel was awarded the Beth Silverman-Yam Award for Social Justice at Gibney Dance, and the first International Artist in Residence for Disabled Dance Artists at Sophiensaele, Berlin, Germany.
