In this video, we visit the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) in Corona, Queens, where an Innovation Institute is providing opportunities for high school-age participants to explore making, entrepreneurship and design research—and to create something of value for the surrounding community.
As a grant coming from our arts and culture program, our support for NYSCI may be rather unorthodox. But it’s also a perfect fit: an investment in an exemplary program that brings together creativity, science and overlays our social justice mission. The young participants are creating things that matter, and learning that “helping people is a big part of invention.”
